Make the cabinet decision specific
The assessment should identify the cabinet construction and the parts proposed for retention. Ask what the specialist found inside and behind the cabinets, whether access was limited, and how the proposed finish treatment will be evaluated. Intact doors do not establish the condition of the whole assembly.
Resolve the countertop and appliance interfaces
- Can the countertop be retained with the proposed cabinet work?
- Who assesses affected appliance, electrical, and plumbing connections before reuse?
- Which measurements and product selections are needed before ordering replacements?
Decide the finish boundary
Review available samples and the transition to retained cabinets under the kitchen’s normal lighting. Record any mismatch you accept. Keep owner-selected upgrades separate from the documented loss repair, and ask the insurer about disputed matching costs before committing to them.
