EPA does not recommend routine biocide use as the default approach to mold cleanup. Where a specialist proposes one, ask for the product identity, intended use, relevant label information, and the materials to which it will be applied.
Plan for occupants and other work
- What access restrictions, ventilation, or re-entry directions apply?
- How will the provider address occupant sensitivity concerns?
- Will the product affect later coatings, adhesives, or other planned finishes?
Keep the completion decision broader
Retain the application record with the source-repair, cleaning, and drying documentation. Resolve any remaining affected material before covering it. Owners should not mix cleaners or apply extra products to supplement a professional plan; direct health-specific questions to a healthcare professional.
