Start with the problem you can observe
A stained interior surface, recurring leak or damaged exterior finish is useful evidence, but it may not establish the source of the problem. Record the location and when it appears, along with safely obtained photographs and earlier repair information. Keep confirmed findings separate from suspected causes.
Coordinate the repair sequence
Assign responsibility for adjoining work so one trade’s repair does not leave an unresolved connection for another. Access, preparation, materials and any agreed testing belong in the scope.
