Begin with the remodel, not the borrowing amount
A home-equity line of credit may be one way a homeowner chooses to finance improvements, but a sound construction plan starts with the space itself. Identify the desired kitchen, bathroom or whole-home changes, the expected quality of materials, the impact on utilities or structure and whether the property will remain occupied.
Scope discipline matters: cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, drywall, plumbing and finishes can interact in ways that affect both project sequencing and cost.
Build a construction estimate you can evaluate
AmeriConstruction can discuss remodeling options and a written construction proposal based on the property and intended improvements. The estimate process may identify choices, allowances, exclusions, permit requirements and items that cannot be priced reliably until plans or site conditions are reviewed.
Keep the construction budget separate from loan affordability. Your lender, not your contractor, determines whether a HELOC is available and what terms apply.
Know where financial guidance belongs
A HELOC uses your home as collateral and commonly has a variable rate, so payments may change. Falling behind on repayment can put your home at risk. Review the terms, fees and draw or repayment periods directly with your lender or a qualified financial adviser.
Our role is to plan and execute the construction you authorize, not to recommend a borrowing product or guarantee that a remodel will increase the home's value.
