Verify the exact business and designation
Use GAF’s contractor-verification resource and match the company name and location to the business on the proposal. Confirm the program relevant to the work: a residential designation should not be assumed to establish authorization for a commercial roof system.
If a listing is unclear or differs from the proposal, ask the contractor and GAF to resolve the difference before relying on a claimed benefit. Save the verification with its date and the final contract.
Do not treat all GAF designations as equivalent
GAF’s verification page distinguishes Certified from Master Elite and describes different enhanced-warranty opportunities. It identifies System Plus as an option available through Certified contractors, subject to qualifying products and terms.
The page also states that participating contractors are independent businesses, not GAF employees or agents. Manufacturer program participation is therefore different from GAF supervising or contracting for the installation.
Ask for the proposed warranty by name
Request the actual warranty document and the product and installation requirements for eligibility. Compare what covers material defects, what addresses workmanship if included, who issues each obligation and what the owner must do after installation.

- Which named warranty is included in this proposal?
- Which roof components and installation conditions are required?
- Who handles registration, and what confirmation will the owner receive?
- What exclusions, transfer conditions and owner duties apply?
Review the contractor separately from the program
Ask for insurance information, the written work scope, change procedures and the party responsible for resolving workmanship concerns. Manufacturer certification can be one input to hiring; it should not replace review of the actual agreement and proposed work.
