Select the standing seam system deliberately
Standing seam includes different seam designs and attachment approaches. Ask the proposal to name the exact system and distinguish snap-lock from mechanically seamed profiles where applicable. Compare the specified product with its current slope, substrate and installation requirements.
Review the roof layout alongside windows, masonry, gutters and exterior finishes. Bring roof plans or photographs showing valleys, dormers, wall transitions and equipment. A clean architectural appearance depends on decisions about the whole roof, not a color swatch alone.
Coordinate clips, movement and penetrations
The proposed assembly should explain panel support, attachment and thermal-movement provisions appropriate to the selected system. Review ridges, eaves, valleys and roof-to-wall flashing with the project team, along with any roof-mounted equipment.
For reroofing, identify removal, decking investigation, underlayment and existing-condition allowances. Clarify who coordinates adjacent trades and what must be resolved before fabrication or installation. Do not assume all standing seam profiles share the same details.
Protect the property and retain system records
Discuss panel handling, delivery routes and staging space before work begins. Occupied homes and operating businesses need different protection and access plans. Include those responsibilities in the written scope.
Keep the approved panel selections, relevant drawings, inspection records and issued warranty documents with the property handover. Future equipment installations or roof access should be reviewed against the selected system and its maintenance information.
