From here, you can either join a guided walk, tour or stagecoach and visit the Stockyards Museum located in the former Livestock Exchange building. History seekers will enjoy the museum’s extensive collection of documents and artifacts from Fort Worth’s Old West era. The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and Texas Trail of Fame displays Fort Worth’s most notable residents. The Sixth Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza

The Dealey is the location of one of the most memorable moments in American history. November 22, 1963, is a tragic day in history immortalized on the sixth floor of the former Texas School Book Depository, where Lee Harvey Oswald pulled the trigger and shot then President John F Kennedy his motorcade turned off Houston Street onto Elm. The Sixth Floor Museum consists of the sixth and seventh floors, and the exhibits detail the life of John F. Kennedy, his presidency, and assassination. One of the exhibits recreates Oswald’s shooting set-up at the southeast window. You get to the museum by taking the free D-Link bus or one of the DART lines to West End station. The museum is only three blocks west of the station.



Fort Worth Zoo

Who doesn’t love a stroll through a zoo on a nice, beautiful day? This Texas Zoo opened initially in 1909 and exposed the residents and tourists to wildlife worldwide. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

Go through periods and civilizations as you inspect artifacts like a 1,700-year-old Budda, Greek funerary relief from 300 BCE, ancient American art in gold, and a Nigerian Nok terracotta bust dating back 2,000 years. The museum was founded in 1903 and is recognized as one of the ten largest art museums in the United States, offering ten concurrent exhibitions, tours, concerts, film screenings, and workshops.



Klyde Warren Park

This innovative public park is a perfect spot for a family outing. It opened its doors in 2012 and was named after the son of a famous billionaire, who donated $10 million for its development. It started as a patch of Downtown Dallas in the Arts District that was transformed in the early 2010s when the Woodall Rodgers Freeway was relocated underground for a length of three blocks. This park has a large lawn fringed by a tree-lined pedestrian promenade. It includes a restaurant, children’s park, botanical garden, reading room, dog park, performance pavilion, and urban games area. As you stroll the park, you can have your choice from the many licensed food trucks stationed throughout the park.



Reunion Tower

This tower is also known as The Ball and is one of the towers that make Dallas, Dallas, located to the south of Dealey Plaza since 1978. Reunion Tower is 171 meters and comprises four narrow shafts, one cylindrical and three rectangular, topped with an openwork geodesic dome that illuminates at night. Elevators are located in the three rectangular shafts, and there is a 68-second ride to the GeO-Deck. Here you can get an incredible view of Dallas through the shaft’s outer glass panel. Once in GeO-Deck, you can quickly research the city’s story and changing skyline on interactive screens or peer through telescopes on the outdoor platform. You won’t go hungry as you explore the city at this elevated level. There are two rotating eateries, the Cloud Nine Café and Wolfgang Puck’s posh Five Sixty, offering an Asian-infused cuisine.



Deep Ellum

The downtown Dallas area is also home to an entertainment district going back to the 1880s. Deep Ellum provides live music, great food, superb bars, and one-off shops. Located on the other side of the I-345 from Downtown Dallas, blues legends like Leadbelly, Bessie Smith, and Blind Lemon Jefferson entertained crowds here in the 1910s and 1920s. The name derives from the neighborhood’s main artery, Elm Street. You can also hear it mentioned in the old blue song, “Take a Whiff on Me’ and “Deep Elm Blues” by the Grateful Dead. For daytime entertainment, you can check out the street art and choose from various food spots offering ramen, tacos, sushi, and southern comfort food. State Fair of Texas

This annual event also throws a car show, and a football game between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas called the Red River Shootout. The State Fair is overseen by the iconic 55-foot mascot installed inside of the park
